Christian Lutz
B.APP.SC.CLINSC, B.OST.SC, RN, CERT.MASSAGE
Christian has over 20 years experience as both treating and teaching Osteopathy, since graduating from RMIT in 2004. He discovered Osteopathy initially as a patient himself whilst training as an elite athlete. Osteopathy helped him overcome injury and led to a passion and interest in the field and practice of osteopathic medicine.
Christian has completed numerous post graduate studies which has enabled him to become a skilled and well-rounded Osteopath. He has a particular interest in paediatric and pre and post natal care as well as athletes, from the elite to the weekend warrior (everyone deserves to move at ease and perform at their best). He has completed Phases 1 – 9 (including Paediatrics) of the Biodynamic curriculum over many years with Dr Tom Shaver (Hawaii) and Dr James Jealous (USA).
Christian has also been a clinical teacher at both VUT (Melbourne) and Southern Cross University (Gold Coast). He enjoys giving back to the profession and igniting the passion in newly aspiring osteopathic students.
He loves spending time with his two children and enjoying the Queensland lifestyle from coast to bush.

Got a question?
I MIGHT HAVE answered THEM BELOW!
Osteopathy is a unique system of holistic, manual medicine, based on principles which recognises the importance between the link with the structure of the body, the nervous system and the way it functions as a whole.
Osteopaths look at every part of the body to restore total well-being, by using skilled evaluation, diagnosis and a wide range of gentle, safe and effective hands-on techniques.
Osteopathy can provide effective pain relief and ease of movement for all parts of the body.
During your treatment, our practitioners feel and listen to a patient’s body, with the aim of cooperating with the natural self-healing capacity already at work within – significant therapeutic change is then possible with the least possible intervention.
Osteopaths use an acute sense of palpation to diagnose and treat in way which is safe and effective, to restore optimal structure and function to the body. Using a variety of techniques, we will address dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system, postural imbalances, fluid dynamics and function of the nervous system:
Direct techniques include:
- General Osteopathic Technique (GOT)
- Muscle Energy Technique (MOT)
- Counterstrain
- HVLA Manipulation
And indirect techniques such as:
- Functional
- Visceral
- Osteopathy in the cranial field (OCF)
Biodynamic Osteopathy is a very unique and clinically effective approach to Osteopathic principles. Through extensive training and years of clinical application, our practitioners skillfully learn how to sense and communicate with the intrinsic health in the patient, and co-operate with its intention towards normal.
This gentle, indirect method allows a treatment to delve deeper beyond the human structure to a place of stillness.
The Biodynamic view of osteopathy in the cranial field recognises the natural forces that created the embryo are also the forces of growth and development and the sustaining restorative forces throughout life. Working with these forces, the practitioner is able to communicate with the natural healing of the body as a whole to restore its vitality.
This is achieved when the Osteopath engages with the patient’s stillness and allows their natural healing potential to be realised.
The word Biodynamic can be defined as a life ever changing in motion, or the ‘what is outside’ influencing ‘what is inside’, and the balance between.
At The Big Alignment Osteopathy (home of Gympie Osteopathy), initial consultations are 40 mins. This involves taking a comprehensive medical history, viewing any medical reports, assessing muscles and joints, abnormal patterns of movement and imbalances within your body and nervous system, before treatment begins.
Follow up appointments are 30-40 mins.
All osteo in Gympie consultations and treatments are carried out with the upmost care and professionalism in a peaceful environment.
Personally, I like to be an all-rounder when it comes to treating as everyone and every-body is different. This means I may treat quite ‘structurally’ treating the muscles, bones and facia as well as ‘indirectly’ with Biodynamics and Cranial-Osteopathy balancing the body and nervous system as a whole.
Yes, if you have Osteopathy as part of your Private Health benefits, I have a HICAPs machine to process your health cover on the spot. A gap fee may apply depending on your insurance cover amount.
The open-air clinic experience
After completing my Osteopathy studies at university, I moved to Hawaii and practiced with one of the world’s most renowed Biodynamic Osteopaths, Dr Tom Shaver.
We treated in his open rotunda with views of the Hawaiian islands and sounds of nature around us, whilst taking in the clean crisp air. There was something truly special about it.
I returned to Australia and for years treated in ‘normal’ commercial treatment spaces, running multiple allied health clinics in Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve come full circle! I’m excited to be slowing down and getting back to nature in my open-aired treatment space in Gympie.
